Spray-Tanning and Jesus.

As most of you know, and comment on frequently, I work at Totally Tan. Though I would have never guessed myself the type to work at a tanning salon, I appreciate my job immensely.  One part about it, however, frustrates me so much!

Spray-tanners.

Not all of them. I do not hate all the spay tanners of the world, I promise. But this is my problem with many of them: they come in and ask a BILLION questions before they give me a chance to tell them anything.  I try to tell them that I will show them a video, and then show them how to do once I take them to the machine, but they interrupt with their fears, "Is it hard?! What if I forget? You better show me well and explain everything!!!" Lady, I haven't even taken your money yet! We'll get there in time.

I was going through just such a situation the other day when I thought how much like faith this is.  Often times, God just wants to get us through this next step but we jump 5 miles down the road. We argue, "God I don't know how to do this! If we do this, then that will happen and that will happen, and before you know it, we'll be there!" We predict what we do not know based on one step.  We are so busy with our arguments that we don't get a chance to listen.  We frustrate the process because we do not submit to it.

We have a system. We prepare spray-tanners well and the machine even talks to them and tells them what to do. In case they forget what the machine is talking about, there are pictures on the side.  They will be well prepared.  They don't realize how easy it is though until they get in.  Some take it in faith; some don't listen and just keep attacking me with questions while I try to calm them down.

Trust God. He knows the whole picture, but He has to walk you through it one step at a time.

"God is in every tomorrow,
Therefore I live for today,
Certain of finding a sunrise,
Guidance and strength for the way;
Power for each moment of weakness;
Hope for each moment of pain,
Comfort for every sorrow,
Sunshine and joy after the rain. "
